Just reading the hundreds of comments on the Daily Mail article.
Mostly, congratulations abound - makes me feel like it was all worthwhile.
And lots of stories of similar situations.
One shared his experience of arriving at Easyjet bag drop more than 2 hours before the flight - to be told that he was too early, and to come back 2 hours before the flight. By the time he came back, there was a huge long queue and he barely made his flight. Crazy.
During the case, the Easyjet lawyer asked me "why didn't you arrive more than two hours ahead?". My answer was "because the T&C's state that the bag drop desk doesn't open until 2 hours before". But in Easyjet's written submissions, they claimed that they encourage passengers to drop their bags as early as possible, and anyway before the 2 hour window.
Well this person's experience seems to be the opposite.

"Looks like they could do with the money"
Fair point! Perhaps because the Mail chose to use a picture of myself and Aileen dressed up like members of the Royal Familty holding a gold medal. It was a photo from the night of the MacRobert Award ceremony (the UK's highest award for engineering companies... but that's another story...) and the Mail must have ripped it from Aileen's facebook page - I certainly didn't supply it to them.
Anyway, I certainly didn't do it for the money - the payment just barely covered our costs of the replacement flight. No real compensation at all - just the satisfaction of having beat Easyjet in two days of intense legal argument, and got a written judgement which will be useful for millions of others.
